“Ambarvalia X : Junzaburo Nishiwaki and the future of poetry”, which was scheduled for this Saturday, will be held online “postponed” as follows in response to the declaration of emergency.

Date and time
(New) March 27, 2021 (Sat) 14: 00-17: 00
(Old) January 16, 2021(Sat) 14: 00-17: 00

This year’s event, which is typically held on dates around Junzaburo Nishiwaki’s birthday (January 20), will be hosted online using Zoom on account of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Details, including on how to participate, will be announced in due course on the Keio University Art Center’s homepage, SNS, etc.

The theme of this year’s event is “Junzaburo Nishiwaki and the future of poetry.” Three poets at the forefront of modern poetry with a deep and distinct interest in Junzaburo Nishiwaki will extensively explore the highways and byways of Nishiwaki from the locations where each composes poetry to bring into relief the “Fragrant Stoker” (Fukuiku-tarukafu) that connects Nishiwaki to the future of poetry. In a world still embroiled in the coronavirus pandemic, one wonders what shape our daily lives will assume as we learn to live with coronavirus, and indeed after it has passed? We will hold a debate oriented by Nishiwaki’s poetic world, with this future firmly in its sights.
